Browser Extension Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the Nostalyia Backup browser extension handles your data. It is separate from, and adds to, the general Nostalyia privacy policy, because the extension runs inside your own browser and works with your Google Photos account.What the extension does
Nostalyia Backup runs on the Google Photos website and copies the photos and videos you choose into your own private Nostalyia gallery. Your media travels from Google directly to your gallery. It does not pass through, and is never stored on, Nostalyia's own servers.What it accesses, and why
- Your Google Photos content. When you back something up, the extension reads the photos and videos you selected, along with their capture date and location, so it can copy them faithfully into your gallery. It reads only the items you choose to back up, using your own signed-in Google session.
- Cookies. The extension uses your existing Google session cookie to download your original photo files, and your Nostalyia dashboard login cookie to connect the extension to your gallery automatically. These cookies stay in your browser and are never sent to Nostalyia or any third party.
- Local storage. Your gallery address, its access key, and a record of which items are already backed up are saved on your own device, in the browser's extension storage. They are used only to upload your photos and to skip items you have already saved.
- Access to your gallery. With your permission, the extension connects to the address of your private gallery so it can upload your photos there. You grant this when you connect the extension, and only for your own gallery.
What we do not do
- We do not collect, store, or look at your photos or videos. They go straight from Google to your gallery.
- We do not track your browsing, build a profile of you, or show advertising.
- We do not sell or share your data with outside companies.
- The extension never deletes anything from Google Photos. It only backs up.
Keeping and removing your data
The settings and backup records the extension keeps live only on your device. Removing the extension from your browser deletes them. You can revoke the extension's access to your gallery at any time from your gallery's account settings, and you can delete any backed-up photo from your gallery yourself.
